Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world forever, it seems

A historical event in the record of Lions Club International, Pakistan took place on the 11th April, 2010. Nine clubs of District 305‐N2 and District 305‐N1 joined forces to arrange a free eye camp at village Burj Ran Singh which is 40 kms away from the city of Kasur:
- Islamabad City Lions Club (District N2)
- Islamabad Movers and Shakers Campus Lions Club (District N2)
- Islamabad Executive Lions Club (District N2)
- Gujrat Young Fellow Lions Club (District N2)
- Lahore Royal Lions Club (District N1‐ Region LR‐4)
- Lahore Unity Lions Club (District N1‐ Region LR‐4)
- Lahore Active Lions Club (District N1‐ Region LR‐
- Lahore Green Eye Lions Club (District N1‐ Region LR‐4)
- Deepalpur Royal Lions Club (District N1‐ Region LR‐4)
This initiative is reflective of the two districts’ slogans: “To be a Role Model” and “Spread Happiness”, and strives to serve without considering the boundaries following the motto of Lions Club International: “We Serve”.

This particular village was selected because a great percentage of population is getting effected by eye diseases. The profession of people of this village is mostly needle work, which weakens their eye sight at a very young age. They are also facing many eye problems due to genetic problems. Many young children are born blind in this area. There is no medical facility available to them in near‐by areas. Also they are so poor that they cannot access any medical centre.
The Lions of Islamabad (District 305‐N2) reached Lahore in the evening of 10th April, 2010, where they were welcomed open‐heartedly by Lions of District 305‐N1. A series of presentations were given by both districts regarding future joint ventures which included:
- Membership Growth Plan by Region Chairperson Lion Aftab Jadraan
- Lions Quest by District Chairperson Lion Sumaira Tanveer
- Family membership Growth by Lion Sitara Satwat

The program of productive discussions was followed by dinner and musical function. The prominent guests of the night were:
- District Governor (District 305‐N2) Lion Raja Wajid
- Region Chairperson Lion Aftab Jadraan
- Endorsed Candidate for International Director
- Lion Humayun Rasheed
- Past Multiple Council Chairperson, Chairperson Campaign Pakistan Lion Shabbir A. Malik
- Zone Chairperson Lion Atiq Ch.
- Chartered President, Islamabad City Lions Club, Lion Iftikhar Ahmed
- Coordinator Project Lion Raheela Naveed

About 458 patients were screened during the Eye Camp at village Burj Ran Singh. Out of which 132 patients were identified as Cateric patients. These patients are now being followed up for their free surgeries. The purpose of this Eye camp will be served when all of these patients will be cured.

On 12th April, 2010, total 19 patients have been operated in Al‐Khair hospital, Lahore. Rest of the patients shall be operated in upcoming days. This Eye camp is first step towards some great service programs done jointly. It was not possible without the encouragement of leaders DG N1 Lion Shahid Parvez and DG N2 Lion Raja Wajid. Region Chairperson Lion Aftab Jadraan was a great support throughout this event.

We are overwhelmed by the hospitality of Lions of District 305‐N1 and hope to work with them in future on some big projects. Lions of District 305‐N2 participated enthusiastically and traveled all the way to that village to serve the poor people of our country.
